Casa Loma Avenue 2

This quirky 1938 split-level home was completely re-imagined in 2017.   The original 2 bedroom 1690 sf home was brought to 3300sf with 3 bedrooms and two living areas. In a neighborhood trending with tear-downs, the renovation of this home was a labor of love by its owners who wanted to maintain the original charm and scale of the home, but give it a Scandinavian inspired modern design with an open floor plan.  Features include a modern floating staircase, floor to ceiling windows and doors, and a black painted exterior that is a stark contract to a block lined with white homes.  This project is a good example of the "Missing Middle" in design and construction in East Dallas, and a great example of how smaller/older homes can be saved rather than razed.

Maestri Studio provided full-service Architecture + Interior Design for this project.

This home will be featured on the AIA Tour of Homes - October 20-21, 2018.  Visit for tickets + info.
