Prestonshire

The interiors of this mid-century Preston Hollow residence were designed to improve the flow of the home while reflecting the lives and collections of its current owners. The existing layout felt compartmentalized, and the clients wanted spaces that could better support entertaining while showcasing the art, furnishings, and objects they had gathered through years of travel.

Maestri Studio reworked key architectural elements to create a more cohesive plan. The dining room and study were exchanged to establish a stronger connection between the main living spaces, while new windows in the dining room bring additional light into the interior. A sculptural wood arch frames the transition between the living and dining rooms, and the gallery was incorporated into the front stone hall to create a more defined arrival sequence. Hidden doors within the millwork conceal storage and the foyer entry, maintaining the clarity of the architecture.

At the front of the home, the study and game room were combined into a flexible space designed for both work and mahjong. Throughout the interiors, saturated ceilings, patterned wallcoverings, and layered textiles introduce warmth and depth to the disciplined mid-century framework, allowing vintage rugs, collected art, and inherited furnishings to feel naturally embedded within the architecture.
