Designing the Spaces Between

Kayla Finley is a Landscape and Technical Designer with a background in architecture and a minor in landscape design from The University of Texas at Arlington. Her passion for design comes from the belief that a home is never truly complete without a thoughtful connection between the interior and the landscape surrounding it.

Kayla is especially drawn to luxury residential projects, where architecture, planting, and outdoor living come together to create beautiful and functional spaces. She enjoys developing technical drawings, creating 3D visualizations, and designing lush landscapes that enhance the overall experience of a home. Her work is inspired by the balance of natural beauty, timeless design, and the way people live and gather outdoors.

Outside of the studio, Kayla enjoys traveling, exploring new cities, and discovering local food experiences. She finds inspiration in the unique character of different places she visits around the world, and brings that into her approach to design.

What is a design "rule" you enjoy breaking?

“While symmetry can be incredibly satisfying and beautiful, I enjoy challenging the idea that every design needs to follow a perfectly structured layout. I love creating spaces that feel unique to the site and the client, often introducing unexpected curves, angles, or forms where a traditional approach might call for simple rectangles. For me, the best designs balance order with a sense of discovery and individuality.”

Describe your dream project:

“My dream project would be creating a private oasis that feels like an island retreat. Whether the architecture is modern, traditional, or historic, I would love to design a landscape filled with lush greenery, beautiful trees, inviting outdoor living spaces, and resort-inspired amenities. I envision crystal-clear pools with cascading water features, relaxing lounge areas, and immersive details that encourage people to slow down and enjoy their surroundings. Creating that sense of escape and tranquility at home would be incredibly rewarding.”
