4231 West Lawther Drive just made history—selling for the highest price ever recorded in East Dallas. But this milestone sale is about more than square footage or location. It’s about legacy—and how great architecture, handled with care, can evolve across generations.
The home was originally designed in the 1940s by Howard R. Meyer, one of Dallas’s most respected modernist architects. Known for his clean lines, elegant proportions, and thoughtful integration with the landscape, Meyer helped define the midcentury architectural language of North Texas.
In 2012, Maestri Studio was brought in to renovate and expand the home. Eddie Maestri—deeply influenced by Meyer’s work—studied the original structure closely, along with many of Meyer’s other projects, before beginning the redesign.
The goal wasn’t to reinvent—it was to listen. To honor what Meyer built and add to it with humility, restraint, and architectural clarity.
A Respectful Expansion with Lasting Impact
Maestri Studio preserved the soul of the original structure—its horizontality, its relationship to the land, and its quiet confidence.
We retained key masonry elements and the core footprint, then introduced a floating second story, expanded rooflines, and sculptural gestures that echo Meyer’s principles while speaking in a new voice.
The result is a home that feels timeless but evolved—a conversation between two architects, generations apart, but aligned in purpose.
Architecture That Adds More Than Space
While interiors and furnishings were handled by others, the architectural transformation set the tone—and ultimately, the value.
More than a decade later, the home not only still feels relevant—it just became the highest sale ever recorded in East Dallas.
It’s a powerful reminder of something we see time and again: Maestri-designed homes don’t just live beautifully—they sell powerfully.
Because when architecture is approached with care and intention, it creates more than space. It creates legacy.

Maestri Studio has had the privilege of working with more than one Meyer-designed home. On another remarkable property, we completed the interior finishes and furnishings, designed a new pool and pool house, and reimagined the landscape—all carefully revolving around the existing Meyer architecture.
